| Introduction The book is organized as an introduction (1:1-4:17), followed by an expansion (4:18-40:38). Each of these panels has seven corresponding parts. In the first seven, Moses lives out the path on which he will lead the nation in the second seven. The seven divisions are: A: Entering Egypt (1:1-7; 4:19-31) B. Oppression (1:8-22; 5:1-6:1) C. Leaders raised up (2:1-4; 6:2-27) D. Moses and Pharaoh (2:5-10; 6:28-13:16) E. Travel to Horeb/Sinai (2:11-15; 13:17-17:7) F. Conflict (2:16-17; 17:8-16) G.Moses and Jethro (2:18-22; 18:1-27) H. Encounter with God at Horeb/Sinai (2:23-4:18; 19:1-40:38) These studies introduce the book and cover A and B in the first panel, the nation's entry into Egypt and the initial oppression. |
